Nancy I'm so glad you got to see this adorable place. Yes, it's enchanting and charming to say the least. My mother is reminding me of our 3 week trip through Europe we did together in the early 80's where we were met by a sweet old man, Herr Schmidthuber, in lederhosen who escorted us to his home (Bed & Breakfast) where we enjoyed homemade Jam ("a drink of Jam and Bread) and slept under feathered comforters. I'm glad you will both have great memories of this magical town.

Nancy I have come to the conclusion that, in Europe, they offset the carb/fat/sugar content with a combination of exercise (walking), biking, and smaller portions. Because after all these years of visiting Europe it puzzles me how they remain (fairly) thin and fit. Add in all drinking and they should be obese, but they aren't. Someone should write a thesis on it.
Frances Sounds wonderful. Are planning on making cheese when you get home?:)

re: Musings About MuchenFrances Martinez Myers Love it. Sounds like you made the very best of the food you encountered. Good for you. Can't believe Yamila forgot to pack a little bottle of tabasco. She must be slipping. Have fun and write some more.
re: Jetlag, the Marienplatz and the HofbrauhausLisa mf Living vacariously through you and your blog. Keep 'em coming. Have been to the hafbrauhaus decades ago and had the same experience!

re: Jetlag, the Marienplatz and the HofbrauhausMichael I'm still trying just to eat like a French woman!
re: Frühstück (otherwise known as breakfast)Michael Cory and I were at the Hofbrauhaus years ago and yes I remember it as touristy but welcoming and a fun place to watch well-proportioned women carry an immense amount of beer! I must have been in denial about the food choices - only remember some pretzel thing. Have fun girls!!
re: Jetlag, the Marienplatz and the HofbrauhausCory Honey, your going to need a serious detox after this trip! Make the most of it.
