We headed towards Northern Cape at 8am this morning. Had a quick breakfast by the campfire, took down our tents then off we went. It was a long and bumpy ride, however it was very scenic. We got to our campground ( the Growcery) at around 3. The owner of the campground had three extremely wild dogs . One of them came back with a baby monkey in its mouth, which was very sad. In the evening, a few of us did a short hike up steep rocky terrain. It was a strenuous hike but it was worth it because we were rewarded with a beautiful sunset view overlooking the orange river and our tiny campground. Orange River is the longest river in south Africa, 2200 km in length. it borders south Africa/namibia and south Africa/Lesotho. We will be crossing over to Namibia tomorrow. We had a traditional South African meal later that night : bratwurth sausages, paps(kind of like grits), and squash. It was delicious ! Everyone had seconds. We spent the rest of the night relaxing around the campfire.
