I've been having trouble uploading the site so behind but wanted to add in a bit about today (actually more for my record). I arrived in Valparaiso, Chile this morning and instantly fell in love with this city.
Can't completely explain it but honestly I feel so amazing being here. I spent the whole day forcing myself not to skip from one great thing to another. Think bullet points would be easiest:
Power and water are fully functional - after 3 days without water in Nicaragua and 2 days in Belize without power really can't take these for granted.
Amazing 71F weather and didn't notice any humidity
Sunset at 9pm!! YES!
Tons of parks with bands playing and people hanging out
Most stores were closed for Sunday - think that is a great plan
Lots of people riding bikes (even saw a couple of runners)
No vicious mosquitoes (still crossing my fingers)
Insane amounts of fresh fruit everywhere (Cherries, watermelon, peaches, avocados and much more)
Several huge markets selling everything but nobody was desperate or pushy to sell
Friendly smiling people everywhere
Beautiful scenery - bright colored houses built into the hills similar to San Francisco
Other bonuses - metro line, beach, addresses and street signs, got a $3 haircut in less than 15 min (perfect for me!!) and a massive grocery store (again - my favorite).
Sorry to go on and on but just so overwhelmed with what a perfect match this place is for me - want to get it all down before a stray dog uses me as a bush or something. I start my Spanish classes again tomorrow and then am going to head out and look for an apartment to settle in here for awhile - can't wait!

Finally found WiFi access - IN MY ROOM!! Yes - moved into my new house this morning and LOVE it! My room is huge with a massive window looking over the city AND the ocean! Never in my life have I or thought I'd have a real ocean view! One of my favorite parts (other than being only $10 a night) is that I live on Cerro Alegre - translated has Happy Hill (perfect!) I share a kitchen, living room and backyard with 4 other students from all over. I'm planning to stay at least 2 months if anyone wants to visit!
Had another great and busy day - hiked all over the hills and got a job interview with the local YMCA - Wow!! So thrilled. Running late for Salsa dancing - more later!
