On December 20th a great man passed away - my grandfather - Ralph Baskett Jr. I was fortunate enough to be able to return home to Arizona for three days to be with my family for the services - about 200 people joined us in remembering his remarkable life. Was neat to see all the old farmers (lots of cowboy hats and belt buckles) and fun to hear the different stories. He loved farming, dancing, joking, traveling and being with friends and family.
Also got to help my brother Todd celebrate his 18th birthday - wow - so hard to believe.
Being back in the US was nice too. Made me laugh to see the lengthy warning sign on the escalator in the Houston airport when just the night before I was riding 8 people in taxi with only 1 headlight. Was reminded everywhere just how lucky we are to have as much as we do. Made sure to fill up on hot showers and American food (dozens of mom's chocolate chip cookies!)
