I know it's been a while but I wanted to wait until I had a lot to say and oh boy, I have a lot to say now.
So on Sunday we began our sailing trip to the Whitsunday Islands. It was absolutely fantastic. We went snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef and saw the most amazing coral and fish. The best one was a huge fish called Albus who has been in the same bay for years now (I'm pretty sure it's probably not the same fish but oh well). He was just great because he was so blasé about all the people swimming around him because he was so used to all the attention.
We also went to Whitsunday Island and were taken to the world famous Whitehaven beach. It's recently been called the 5th most beautiful beach in the world and although I haven't seen the other 4, I'm pretty sure it'll be hard to beat. The sand is mainly silica so it was bright white and because it was so fine (it had a consistency like flour) it never heated up in the sun so even in the middle of the day, the sand was so cool on our feet. It also was so soft to lie on, and was a great for exfoliation, so obviously this was enough for us to persuade Josie that turning her into a sand mermaid would also benefit her. The sea was so clear. The whole scene was completely stunning - it was unbelievable to see.
The boat trip was so fun; I'm now convinced I would like to buy a sailing boat. Sleeping on a boat, although we were sleeping in such a confined space, was so relaxing as the waves rocked us to sleep. There were 23 of us on the boat along with 3 crew members so it was a small enough group to get to know everyone. I would really recommend going to the whitsundays- it was stunning and so much fun; a must do in Australia.
In more recent news, our trip to Sydney was going well until 20 minutes before our flight when the company cancelled the whole flight. As we had waited at Proserpine airport all day, (which by the way has literally nothing except check in desks before you go through departure) learning that we were not getting to Sydney was so frustrating. Despite our anger, the airline put us up in a hotel for the night and paid for our food! $50 per person for food. That is a banquet for us! It was the best news we could have had after waiting around all day.
I'm pretty awful at blogging so I'll do it when I can
Bye all
