After almost 3 weeks without any Scarf Action, I was starting to get a little Scarf Sick. Scarfs are virtually extinct in India, so I was not expecting to see any at all. Thankfully, I discovered that Bollywood is full of them, so things started looking up as soon as we arrived in Mumbai.
Imagine my delight when 2 NYC Scarfs who were on business in the city, boarded the boat to Elephant Island, where we were day-tripping. Naturally we were best friends within 2 minutes & had a fun filled day using the 500 year old caves as a backdrop for our modeling shoot, even Vish joined in!
The Scarfs had only met each other the previous evening: Shameek the adorable Bengali Scarf was living in the Taj Mahal hotel where we were also staying & Tim, the Journalist Scarf, was in India for 2 weeks to write a story on the very first Rajput Scarf Prince, who recently appeared on Oprah!
We all got on like long lost friends & after hearing all about my love of Scarfs, we were invited for dinner & drinks, to meet with the Scarf Prince himself! We didn't actually get much time with The Royal Scarf, he was a little quiet & looks like an Indian Snoop Dog, especially since he was wearing all his Royal Finery (including a Scarf), in a nightclub! I did curtsey when I met him though & called him 'Your Highness'. Sadly, he didn't stick around for long as the nightclub was very crowded, but I did get to meet a number of other Bombay Gays including a photographer, a few actors & the marketing manager for Sony BMG India & had lots of fun with my NBFs!
So Operation Scarf Mumbai was a roaring success and I think we have a few new contenders for the 2008 International SCARFTA Awards!
