I don't know why this moved me so much... the mud slapping? the desolation? the desperation? They had water, food, homes, games, family, community. Did they really have it so much worse than their modern counterpart? A mud house with 3' walls is cool when it's 110 out. We have nothing to match that. It's just so bleak...
