re: The balconies of Cartagena, etc.bobnkaren Isn't it? This convent was built in 1533 and renovated in 1960, but what you see here is original I believe--it looks like it has just cleaned up from a fire at some point.
re: Seeing Cartagenachr wish I could be with you. sounds so interesting. may be next time?what happened to driving miss daisy? did the picture not work out?in 2 weeks I am off to Guatemala! can hardly wait, it is raining here!take care and stay healthy christel
re: Botero's MedellínAllen & Judie Karen, what a story you wrote. I knew yrs ago was bad but not really like what I read. We are so lucky to live in the USA. We think it is bad here but nothing like that. I am sure you are having fun learning about their country. Glad you two are together and able to go everywhere you want to. Stay well and safe! Stay young as long as you can!
re: Colombia's heartbreakKaren Thanks. It was a very emotional tour and I wonder how many people have even amy idea at all of what drugs do on this level. We hear a lot about what drugs do to the individual person but not so much about what it does to the country that is literally taken over by traffickers.
re: Colombia's heartbreakbobnkaren Me too. There are cheap knockoffs on the streets but I wanr to find a good one
re: Guatapé, city of wainscotingAllen & Judie Sounds like you and Bob are having a great time. Also learning a lot about the country. We love reading your Blog! And seeing your pic's they are so good.Stay well and be careful!
re: Botero's MedellínPaul Medellin is famous in the US, of course, for the infamous drug cartel that I believe was crushed a few years ago. Do people talk about this there, or is there remaining evidence of the impact of the old cartel? I've heard that it has become a very safe place these days.
re: Botero's MedellínPaul Looks like he's guarding the Banos Gratis (free restroom), but she wants (or needs) to get in.
