Again this picture doesnt have really anything to do with where we are! The only connection is that Orangutans live in the forest and that is where we are, apart from there are no Orangutans in this one! Anyways we are in Kuala Tahan which is the base camp for the Taman Negera national park, which is a rainforest which is over 130 million years old. Apart from trekking in the forest, there is only a few other things to do. Sleep, eat (but only at one place in the hours of light as it is Ramadan, and drink, but only soft drinks as the town is basically dry apart from a 5 star resort over the river but prices are pretty steep. First things first have to mention the drowning we received when we arrived. By saying it was pretty heavy rain is a bit of an understatement! within in 5 yards of getting off the bus we were absolutely drenched and my trainers still aren't dry 3 days on! We decided to do the canopy walk, which was pretty gud. Even Bobby stepped up and did it, even with his fear of heights. This fear was not helped by the fact that i decided to basically bounce the walkways behind him and generally walk heavily to make the walkways swing a little bit more. He did look quite worried in certain parts but in the most dealt with it well although he was curisng me quite a lot and has vowed some sort of revenge attack! although i still maintain that i was doing him a favour by trying to rid him of his fear! We also went on a cave exploration which was fun although not advisable without a flash light. It was pretty tight in places and got a little wet, but did see the bats that lived down there. Dave also did the rapids with some fellow travellers that we met up with in Kuala Lumpar and both had the same ideas for Taman Negara, and once again with most of the activities got pretty wet (whether that be by goiing in water or generally sweating heavily). This is our final day in Kuala Tahan as we have exhausted pretty much everything apart from night trekking and multiple day trekking. Heading off to Jerantut later to catch the 2.30am train to Singapore, not looking forward to the wait around in Jerantut as we have been through it on the way here and as with most of these little towns in the middle of nowhere there is basically nothing there! Oh well soon enough we shall be in Singapore, after another trip on a bloody night train! i hope to god this is the last!
