Sunday July 20th
Yellowstone National Park
We decided to pack up and head to the registration office and see if we could get a campsite for the evening. Luckily we had a really nice service lady and she got us a spot in Grant Village which is where we wanted to stay, Right on Yellowstone Lake. And South enough for us to head out the next day.
Today was filled with exploring the park which one could do forever. I don't even know where to start. WE saw so much took some great video and was nice to not be in the car for a day. We drove from Canyon Village (after Rachel got a shower yay..No idea when Bryce will shower.) along Yellowstone River stopping at Artist Point and saw some water falls. Tons of Bison and elk ooo and even a kyote. No bears or wolfs which is on our list to see.
Got camp set up early by the lake so we could head out and explore some more. We visited Old Faithful. Walked and walked and walked looking at all the geysers bubbling and boiling. We took lots of pictures cause they are just so neat looking. The heat and smell they give off is unreal. It didn't help that it was smoking hot in the afternoon. A big switch from the morning which was rain and threat of thunder storms.
Had a nice visit with some old men on a porch rocking in their rockin chairs. They were pretty funny. WE had done a really good explore of that area of the park and watched Old Faithful spew up twice. It was time to head back to camp and have some dinner. Bugs were not as bad at this campsite although we quickly realized maybe they weren't around cause there was a storm moving in. Our first crazy thunder and lightening storm. Neat but freaky. Our little tent held up very well.WE have a huge drive a head of us tomorrow we are have a couple options so we are going to see what GPS "agnus" has to say. Our goal is to get to Bryce Canyon which is in the south of Utah. It is just a long drive so it will be an early start out of Yellowstone. We are sad to go but had a great time here would do it again for sure. Rachel thinks her parents would LOVE it. Awesome place to come set up for five days and just pick a sight each day.
We are going to go to sleep under thunder and lightening now. Oh and also to mention Yellowstone camping is in bear country so the restrictions they have are pretty harsh. WE cannot leave anything with a scent outside of the car. Unless we are consuming food everything has to be packed away. In a weird way we are kinda hoping a bear will wander thru. (Dad you can
