Friday July 25th
Departure: Grand Canyon, ARIZONA
Arrival: Las Vegas, NEVADA
Left the Grand Canyon with a quick stop at some of the shops at the south entrance.
We drove the I-40 west and then north on the 93. Bryce really was not interested in seeing the Hoover Dam we just wanted to get to a hotel. But low and behold when you take the 93 you have no choice but to go right over it. It feels like a wall of heat just before the Dam. Once thinks the Grand Canyon would be the hottest we would experience. But no, we have now hit that heat where the air feels like it is burning.
There was quite a bit of construction building a new road and bridge. We soon discovered why this would beneeded. Once over the dam the traffic heading the opposite direction was not heading at all. The line up was unbelievable it carried on all the way to the next town.
We reached Las Vegas and the strip as we expected it was a bit of a transition as we have been camping for the past week and forgot what city traffic and noise is like. WE walked the strip for a bit. In and out of the hotels/casinos. With everyone saying before we left that this was Las Vegas off season it was crazy busy. Can't imagine what it is like in the on high season. WE eventually decided upon staying at the Venetian which Rachel LOVED! Will refresh her a bit. We opted out of seeing a show this evening and enjoyed the most incredible spa experience. In our hotel is the Canyon Ranch Spa and it was one of if not the best massage Rachel has ever had. Just a great way to get into the pampering of las vegas. Now we just have to find out way around. These places are huge. We have gotten lost many a times now. Just inside of course cause everything links to everything.
Our hotel room is awesome with a view of the pool (make that four pools) which we plan to get into tomorrow.
Some slot machines, a bit of black jack and Bryce being id every 10 ft. And before we knew it , it was bed time. Oh guess we are watching the fire works at treasure island from our suite window for a bit.
Good night. Bryce and Rachel
