What's up peeps.
So we have already left Koh Pha-ngan and we are now in the stunning Koh Tao!
Yesterday in Koh Pha-ngan was absolutely cracking day!! It was another slow get up but we were on the beach and ready by 12.00 we had already set our minds on doing some kitesurfing so that's what we set out to do. We had seen quite a few of them a few hundred metres down the beach from us so we set off in chase.
We walked down the road as we thought there would be a kite shop. After about a mile we decided to turn onto the beach as we knew we had gone too far. So heading back towards the kiting we asked a random guy on the beach for some help. He said go back up to the road and head a few hundred metres to your right. After finally getting to the shop we found there was no one there!! We were quite angry by this point! We headed back to the beach and waited for an instructor to come back.
Tom managed to hire some stuff straight away but I had to wait. The instructors finished at about 1.00 and said they start at 2.00. I was sat on the beach waiting for them, they were just sitting there chilling out and smoking! You know what these kind of people are like!! So finally at 2.15 I asked if we could start. And of course he had forgotten!
I had a pretty geezerish 20 something year old french guy which was cool. So I was finally getting started! The first part was beach theory, setting up the kite, right of way, wind knowledge, that sort of jazz, which of course I really wasn't listening to.
We finally got in the water with the kite and got flying! We started with a 4 metre, but it was too small and I asked the guy if we could get a bigger one, he didn't hang around and cranked out a 12 metre one!! That's more like it!
We did lots of turns and keeping the kite at certain angles, that sort of stuff. We then moved onto body dragging. Basically bringing the kite into the wind window and out the other side which generates the power. So we were flying through the water.
Obviously me being me I asked him to teach me how to Jump, he was quite obliging but said I couldn't do it now as he would get in trouble.
Silly telling me in the first place as of course I would do it!! As soon as he gave me the kite I tried it pretty much straight away. It was brilliant, so much power! That was enought excitement for that day and very tiring!
We got the ferry to Koh Tao today which was about an hour and a half, it is incredible here, crysal clear sea with corral and fish everywhere! Snorkelling paradise! And all so close to the shore. The place we are staying is lovely and it has a pool which is pretty awesome!
The sunset here is the most stunning I've ever seen, it set right over the water at 6.30, pretty much 90 degrees to where we were sitting on the beach, on a sun lounger. There were big Thai fishing boats laying on the sand as there is quite a big tide here. The water is less than a metre deep for about 100 metres which is incredible. I love it here so much!
Hope England isn't treating anyone too badly!
