WEDNESDAY 22ND JUNE - BOWEN, THE LAND OF PROMISES!!! (or so we thought) Money's fine but we thought we might try and get a bit of work to help us along and to see a bit of the country life. We'd spoken to a lovely man called Ernie who promised us a week of Tomatoe picking, hand rearing kangeroo's and horse riding and to top it accommodation thrown it. This is too good to be true we thought..............and yes we were right! We made it as far as the supermarket to buy our food for the week when reality hit. WHAT THE HELL ARE WE DOING!! Shaun had come to pick us up and told us all about the so called farm. He'd been there a week and worked only 1 day. There was no kangeroo's or horse riding and nothing much to do at all. The only way in and out was the weekly bus to Bowen or to hitch hike!!! Ernie was full of BULL S**T!!! but he couldn't out smart us! and as we A Team rolled from the van, rucksacks in hand we did a 2 finger salute to the idiot and his non ripe tomatoes!!! We then spent the day looking for the holy grail , accommodation in Bowen. After 4 pints of XXXX we realise that Bowen is full of stupid backpackers all on the same mission as us. And so we escape the crazy town and flee to our current location Airlie Beach. The search for work continues. Tomorrow we head to Mackay and possibly on to Bundaberg. Note to parents: Do not worry. We always exaggerate things. It wasn't really an A Team roll more like a clumsy stumble. We are fine.
