Vic & Sig's Adventure 2005 - Bluefootedboobie !!
Bolivia: Copacobana, La Paz, and Sucre:
You know your in Bolivia when: The roads aren't just bad there non existant! Cars are blessed daily by priests. One of the main tourist attractions is 'The worlds most dangerious road' (Possibly explaining the need for car 'Blessing') and a sheet is the only thing separating you on the throne from the rest of the resturant.... Bolivia's a GREAT Country!
Our Journey took us from Cusco to La Paz, the worlds highest capital and Via Copacobana - the Bolivian side of the more than impressive Lake Titicaca. Feeling a little low ebb after our Inca Trail effort we opted for none less than 'Royal Class' direct bus service, stinging our pockets occordingly.
Three Busses, each dramatically decreasing in standard, a short walk and a boat later, two travellers feeling very sorry for themselves arrived in La Paz in serious need of some R&R!
Rest and relaxation was found at the hotal Continental with Cable TV, ensuit bathroom, 20" pizza and Dumbo's the ice cream shop just down the road. Hence to say after three days we hadn't seen too much of the city but we're hooked on the American Fox TV series 'North Shore' and could describe any of the pictures on the walls in Dumbo's. We We're ready to leave and head south to Sucre.
This was more like it. The city was smaller, cleaner, friendlier, the weather warmer, Hey even the Beer tasted better!!! ReCharged we explored the city, including a visit to the largest Prehistoric site in the world. On Par with Bolivian standards, after riding the Dino Truck from the Cathedral, donning the most ill-fitting hard hats and having a histerical demostration next to a puddle with plastic Dinosurs, we we're allowed to walk right up to one of most impressive T-Rex footprints EVER and almost rub it off with our hands! .....BOLIVIA ROCKS!
After chilling out, getting some much needed sleep-ins and enjoying the German/Bolivian Oktoberfest in honour of Graham Hall's 50th we found ourselves suddenly starting to like this place and the people.... Bolivia Really, and quite literally if your talking about the roads, ROCKS!
