Prague was simply amazing! Our train was of course delayed because what else is new, but aside from that we made it there with no problems. Our hostel was pretty nice, and pretty central so that was great. It was also right by the metro so we found it easily which was good because we got in around midnight.
A walking tour left from the hostel in the morning so we got in on that. Our tour guide was awesome and was so knowledgable! She showed us everything there was to see in the old city, then helped us plan the rest of our trip since we were so limited on time. She suggested we take a castle tour in the afternoon to make sure we get to see that area, then take a leisurely morning the next day and told us exactly how to get to the airport. When the tour was over, we got our tickets for the castle tour, had lunch at a place recommended by the tour guide, then went on our tour. Our guide was from Florida (how cool is that?!) so we chatted quite a bit about stuff going on. He have us an awesome tour of the castle hill. When the tour was over, he showed us how to get back to the old town square, where we went to to buy tickets for the famous Prague Pub Crawl. Doing so, we met some friends from Britain, who we then proceeded to hang out with the whole night. We ran back to the hostel to change our clothes, check in for our flight, then were right back out. The pub crawl was an awesome time, that's all I'll say about that... We woke up this morning and decided to take a leisurely stroll back towards the old town square. We just wandered and took in all that was Prague, the people playing music and the beautiful buildings. We watched the astronomical clock do it's thing one last time, then headed back to the hostel to grab our things and head towards the airport. We got there without a hitch, but the set up was so strange. There is a terminal for inside EU and one for outside EU. We are flying to Dublin, so we went to the one for inside EU, but for whatever reason, our plane was in the other terminal, so we lugged our things down there. You don't go through security until you are going to your gate which was quite bizarre, and I had an interesting time there. First, my jewelry set the sensor off, so I had to get patted down, which was no big deal. But while doing that, my bag went through the sensor. Keep in mind we checked our backpacks, so the carry on I had was just a duffel bag with all the gifts I have bought for people while abroad. Well, I forgot that I bought my dad a Swiss Army knife while in Switzerland since it was so long ago, and it was in the duffel. Obviously they had to take it away, which I was really sad about because I was so excited to give it to him, but rules are rules I should have remembered it was in there and put it in my checked bag. Anyway, we finally make it to the gate, because the gate switched so we had been waiting at the wrong gate for a while but then I checked the sign and sure enough we were no longer waiting at the right place. It gets to be about 15 minutes until departure and we still aren't on the plane, they announce it is delayed (what a shocker) but only about 30 minutes or so. We are currently in the air on our way to Dublin, where we will spend the night then catch our flight home bright and early. Home is so close we can almost taste it! See you soon, America!
