Deb & Ju's Travels
Hi everyone,
Since Townsville we have been on the road again.
The Whitsundays - we spent 2 days in Airlie beach which is the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands. Unfortunately because the weather on the Whitsundays was so bad the week before, most of the sailing trips were fully booked so we only managed to sneak on a day tour, but it was still brilliant. Whitehaven Beach is just absolutely beautiful and we still can't believe that we were the only boat there for lunch. When we put the photos on the website hopefully you will realise why we were so taken with it.
Dingo - well what a night we had in Dingo! Dingo is a cattle ranch about 3 hours inland, so we went on a tour with the cowboys for the day - yee hah! When we arrived we had the opportunity to try and crack a whip, which is so much harder than it looks, then we had some billy tea and damper bread (and we even got the receipe!). After that we were hurded onto a cattle truck and given a tour round the land where he demonstrated using a rifle and a shotgun. The cowboy (Rich) even offered to shoot holes in peoples clothes (obviously not while they were wearing them!). After our tour we had a nice shower in brown water and then we partied the night away, line dancing etc. We even managed to find the fancy dress box and made ourselves some neck ties and found ourselves a couple of hats, and yes Deb wore her cowgirl boots, she's so well prepared!
Bagara - last night we stayed in a small seaside town called Bagara, but we didn't do too much as we were so taken with the little apartment style accommodation that us and our fellow house mates just sat in for the evening, it was heaven!
Hervey Bay - today we arrived in Hervey Bay which is the nearest access point for Fraser Island. It doesn't look like there is much to do round here as it is mainly a stopover point for pickups for Fraser Island, which is where we are off to tomorrow for a 3 day, 2 night trip, so we will update you as soon as we can.
