Billy and Bekah's Adventure!!
Man, I never thought this website would be such a hit! I love the response from everyone, especially you, Mom and Dad!! I'm so happy you are able to watch me as I go on this incredible journey! I'm so impressed with your computer skills Mom!
Well Happy 4th of July everyone in the USA!!! We wish we could be there to watch the fireworks and party with everyone! At this moment, we are in Dublin, one of the biggest cities in Europe. We did not see, nor hear of any 4th celebrations. Oh well, I will fill you in with last night, today, and right now.
Last night after I posted my journal we went food shopping and got a few things. These little markets are normally in every town we pass through which is great. Last night we grabbed some olive oil, seasonings, canned spaghetti, loaf of bread and a liter of coke. We made it back to the campsite, it was rather drizzly. We decided to take advantage of their little kitchen/dining room they offered campers and set up our picnic in there. Billy inhaled the cold canned pasta, I gave up 4 bites in and chowed down on the bread. Before we hit the tent last night we set up a little living room in the backseat of the car; meaning we slid the front seats as far up as possible and leaned them forward. The backseat acted as a couch as we watched our movie, THE PRODUCERS. Great movie! We highly recommend it! We then called it a night when it finally got somewhat dark and settled into our tent for 2 nights in a row of sleeping through the whole night!
This morning we woke up and drove straight in the direction of our next campground located in Tramore ( known as a small seaside resort town) We pulled into town and immediatly saw a swarm of people swimming in the bay, with SURFBOARDS!! We couldn't get down there any faster! On our way down to the shore we passed through a portion of town that resembled "Coney Island." It was full of rides, arcades, tourist shops, surf stores, etc
We found some parking and walked down to the shore to watch what we had seen from the streets above, a SURF CAMP full of children Kaelee's age, it was so awesome to see! There was also a DOG out on a board surfing the waves in, it was so hilarious. After watching them for a while we decided to go check out the boards and wet suits for "hire". We talked to the attendent in the surf shop for a while about Florida surf, he had a trip planned to Cocoa Beach in September. We had also noticed the lack of waves and he mentioned the season for them is usually late August and through the fall is when the swells come in.
The next shop over was the rentals. We were able to rent a board, wetsuit and optional booties and hood for an hour and a half for only 20 euros. Billy decided he was just going to "skin" it, and I would use the suit. Well we hurried out, had a few fun rides each, splashed in the crystal clear water, probably 40 degrees, or less. We decided it was time to call it quits when Billy couldn't feel his toes anymore. We are so happy we were able to get out there, felt so good to be in water again. We were going on withdrawls!
We checked out the site we were originally suppose to be in for tonite and it was somewhat grungy, like a trailer park. We decided we did all we wanted to do in that town anyways and started to drive towards Dublin, driving through Waterford first.
We ended up booking a hotel in Dublin for the night, not the one we are going to be in tomorrow, but still a nice hotel. We are so happy to have shelter, no more rain tarps and wet grass. Our rental car is a mess inside full of dirt and grass from all our hikes!
After we checked in tonight we drove over to the nearest grocery store, it was almost as great as a Wal-Mart. It is called Tesco, it must be the country's Wal-Mart. It had everything from TV's to eggs. For dinner and meals the next couple days we grabbed 2 large containers of juice, about 4 containers of different soups ( we can boil water in the coffee pot in the room), hot chocolate, and not so hot cross buns. All this for 8 euro. This is the way to go! The restaurant downstairs has dinner but the cheapest meal starts at 14 euro, for one!
Well since we are here in Dublin early we plan on just relaxing and not doing too much site seeing before our flight to Paris. We check out tomorrow at noon and hunt for our next hotel nearby, hopefully getting an early checkin and organizing our packs for the rest of the countries.
Just to let you all know I posted more pictures! I did all of them before I wrote this journal so if you saw the new album before this journal was posted, check back, because there might be new pics. A lot of the pictures are from the previous cities that I had left out but found some time to add them in! Enjoy! We miss you!!!
