Our Practice Run for Retirement
Naturally the weather was not so great for the start of the Lone Star Rally. Chilly rain on Thursday. Chilly but without rain Friday, so off we went to Galveston on the bikes. Huge crowd. They close down several blocks so it is a huge party with food and booze vendors in the streets. The other great thing about this rally is it is all free. Entrance, concerts, everything but the food and drinks of course. Amazing bikes, crazy fun stuff to see, but without the nudity you see at other rally's. It gets wilder as the night goes on, and so loud you can barely stand to watch the motorcycle parade. Not sure what all the engine revving is about, but damn it's loud! We were frozen by the time we got home, but the hot tub took care of that.
We are really learning to be full timers now. The RV is great. It is surprising to not miss the big house or all the stuff, but I honestly have no regrets about giving it all up. We are working on creating new routines. Figuring out what we want to do each day and trying to not eat junk all the time.
So far it just feels like the weekend. Yesterday was the first day we just stayed at home and practiced relaxing. It is not as easy as you would think. Missing the family already. Ashlee sent us a video of Hunter (our 1 yr old Grandson) walking. He took his first steps the day we left. I knew he would do that. Got to facetime with him last night. Such a sweetie!
