we started our journey to chiang mai on a 15 hour bus journey,
no fancy air con / heated bus , a local bus , whhhhat an experience... people getting on from tiny villages with kids hanging on to every limb... throwing up , excreting on the seats behind us!... but it didnt really smell because the windows wer open , which caused another annoyance, it was freeezzzing !, me and cox dressed in shorts flip-flops and a t-shirt , tom had the sense to take a hoody along with him!, , it was an overnight bus so we didnt get any more than 2 hours sleep max!,
the bus then stopped at 1 in the morning cos some guys wer trying to sell a dead badger / racoon / beast to the people on the bus !, madness,
anyway we got to the border in the morning , sorted out our visa and got on another 6 hour bus to get the chiang mai ! the bigggg city,
arrived on a sunday ( which is night market night ) , the roads wer blocked off , and covered in stalls , selling the most amazing ..handicrafts...football shirts!....everything!,
found a great place to stay , with some other backpackers there!,
me and cox went out with them that night , tom didnt have it in him !,
we drank chang beer...played pool...wwent to a hotel swimming pool with a load of other guys who wer staying there ....( pics are on facebook!) ,
next day relaxed , juggled , tom and cox guitared ...we booked a jungle trek for the day after!
3 days of treking (he pics can say more than words) climbing , elephant riding , bamboo rafting ( more like a battle on water ! , seaweed grenades, boarding the rival raft , sinking the rafts !... great fun!, shame no pics didnt fancy risking me camera after my bad luck!,
on the trek we wer with an english couple ( sooooooo slow) and a german couple ( they wer brilliant playing cards, chatng to them and the war on water with them was amazing!),
pity we wernt with people our own age but we still had a hell of a time!,
o' the waterfall aswell was picturesk (spelling?!?!) and so refreshing ,
our guide jackie cut some bamboo down with his massive knive on the way ...and used it to cook in and serve our lunch by the waterfall!, ...
got back to chiang mai city last night, and went out to the night bizzaar market!, so cheap so fake so gooood ,
now just relaxing for a day , about to get some food , play cards, and prepare for our 12 hour bus journey tonight !,
mayhem starts again , but this time we will be prepared with sleeping bags , hoodies sock shoes and ipods!,
we are heading down to bangkok so we can then spend a night there on the famous khoa san road!!!, and travel down the the islands on the following day!.. ready for a massive full moon party!,
keep in touch ,
speak to you all soon! ,
check out the photos on facebook if you fancy!,
lots of love
