Day 30- September 9- Sunday "If you are not having fun- then you're in the wrong gear"- HELP-they don't make them that low!!!!! 3 mountains and lots of ups and downs! Noon, we had just rode 32 miles. The views were incredible, the sky was blue, and not too much traffic but 4771 feet ascents and 4896 feet of descents - made for a challenging, tough day. Day 29- 44miles- Saturday, sept 8 Motel 6, Marina to Pfeiffer-Big Sur State Park. Woke to fog in Marina-breakfast at Denny's-really good and filling. Found the "Monterey Coast Bike Trail", wonderful to ride on a paved trail away from traffic! Being Saturday bikers, joggers, and walkers were out in numbers. Day 28- 65miles- September 7, Friday Pigeon Point to Marina Great morning, sunny, warmer and rolling hills. Made good mileage, stopped for coffee near Ano Nuevo State Park. Lots of surfers, no rocks along the coast like yesterday. Then fast into Santa Cruz and hard following suggested route off freeway through city, got lost but finally into farming-agriculture area...so many strawberry fields/artichoke, etc and hundreds of farm workers (pic). Day 26- Rest Day SF- Woke to 3 other people in room at Hostel. All from France. 7:30 hostel provided light breakfast and coffee. Then sat down to look at our schedule for next week and a half...when planning I did not take into account we would be pulling and carrying 45 plus pounds!
