bigelows in Italy
Will try to get a quick update. Computer seems to kick us off the website before I can get a blog completed, so these may be brief. We have been having a great time, quite relaxing, and have gotten to see some cool sites as well. Monday we went to Siena, it rained off and on during the day, but things were OK even so. they have the best piazza (town square) in Italy, they have this horse race there every year in July, and evidently its quite a scene. Saw the church, some art, some shopping, and believe it or not, had a bit of wine. Monday evening we ate at the villa, where they brought a chef in to cook for us, a traditional Italian meal, with 4 courses, including dessert. We may have to get extra seats on the plane for the way back as much food as we're eating!Tuesday we went to Orvieta, another old town, very nice church, cool views, nice drive, etc. Tahe cool thing about the church there is that there is a piece of cloth there from 1290 from a priest who was skeptical about Jesus and communion. He didn't believe his body was really there and anyway, when he was hold up the host it started bleeding and dripped down his arm and onto this cloth, and it is still here today. That's the start of Corpus Christi church observation. The pope was in the area so they built a church to celebrate. That's the story anyway, and its pretty cool when you're actually seeing it.
