We got up early to have breakfast in the hotel restaurant while we waited for the rental cars. They had the best homemade banana bread. Once the cars were all situated, we headed towards Dominical and Uvita where the Hacienda was located. The drive up was easy going with Sean, Megan, Dave, James, and I. We made plenty of jokes and rocked out to tunes. On the way we made a couple pit stops.
1. A bridge where you could over look the river full of crocodiles. It was super windy getting out to the overpass bridge but worth it to see the swarm of massive reptiles.
2. Bowie's Restaurant to grab lunch. It was open with a breeze running through and a perfect view of the ocean.
3. A scenic stop to take photos in front of the shoreline, see the massive resorts, and take a break from driving. This was one of the only beach fronts in Costa Rica (that I saw) with many resorts right on the shore.
We arrived at the hacienda around 4:30 with enough time to check out the house and see the first sunset. Everyone was excited to just take a dip in the pool and hang around the house. The grounds keeper helped us get dinner from the Jolly Roger Bar. The burgers, french fries, and wings were delicious. After dinner we just played games and drank with a smaller group that becomes the tight nit group throughout the rest of the trip.
