27 June 2011 – All good things come to an end.
After two years I have returned stateside and thus decided that I should have a closing entry. So, for now my blog will lay dormant (not that many people will notice) until the next time I find myself exploring. I have no idea when fate will take me over oceans again, but as much as I miss Usisya I know that I need to be here for now. Reconnecting with friends and family has shown me just how much I missed, and being away proves that I need these people more than I ever cared to admit.
So, to all those who knew me from home, I can’t wait to get to know you again. You were missed, and I am sorry to have left for so long. And I promise, as many have been enquiring, to stay here for at least the next few years struggling through the American economy with you and just a phone call away (without having to deal with international dialing codes).
And to the people I left behind and all the PCVs who have also been thrown back into culture shock: I’ll never forget you. For two years you were my family and some of the most amazing people I have ever had the good fortune to share life with. Let’s not lose each other, remember how exciting a letter can be or even an email if you can’t be old fashioned. Stay in touch! I think about Malawi and many of you multiple times in every day and would love to share those memories with you via snail mail or in person (I’ll be in Philadelphia for the next year).
I miss Usisya and Malawi more than I ever thought I would…. But it’s time to start the next phase.
