Based in Wynyard now, I took off today for a lap to the west coast and back. The Edge of the World is a wind blown spot on the west coast at the mouth of the Arthur River, near the top end of the Tarkine Wilderness.
Dismal Swamp is a boardwalk through a lowland swamp area, featuring rainforest flora and fauna, including some impressive forest giants and the occasional pademelon and quoll.
Stanley is an attractive fishing and tourist village, very scenic and with lots of coffee shops. It's well known landmark is the old volcanic plug known as the Nut. I saw a number of tourists ascending the Nut, either by chairlift of on foot. I considered doing so myself, briefly, but the urge passed.
All in all, a good day out, despite dodging passing showers most of the day.
