Our border crossing into Cambodia was smooth- the opposite of the Laos fiasco!Cambodia was absolutely beautiful, as were the people.
Phnom Phen:
We stayed at a travellers' dream- the 'guest house' was a kind of floating shack with an old school wooden deck and totally basic rooms. The vibe there was really chilled and the Khmer people were so friendly. We spent a lot of time chilling on the decking over the lake at sunset sipping Angkok Beer- Paradise! We visited the Killing Fields and S21 (the school that was used as a torture prison during the Khmer Rouge seige). It was a pretty harrowing day all in all. We then decided to go to an ice-cream parlour and have two huge chocolate sundaes to lighten our moods! Wow, then we went to the central market and bought loads of wonderous Cambodian fare.
Siem Reap:
We arrived in Siem Reap in the pooring rain after another long bus journey. We discovered that the bus trip to Bangkok would be a lot longer than we originally thought so we had to scurry off and see the Angkor Wat temples that afternoon- all good fun! The temples were amazing, and we got to have a mini tour of them in our own personal tuk-tuk with driver!
I (Bex) got my debit card stolen :( actually I got my whole wallet stolen but thankfully it only contained my debit card- no use to the sneaky Cambodian who pinched it.
All in all we got very ripped off in our two days in Cambodia, but the people are so cool and friendly that we didn't mind! It was so funny everytime we told them we were from the UK all they seemed to always come out with was "lovely jubbley" in a terrible cockney accent! Too much Only Fools and Horses methinks...
