We rented bicycles today and explored Chiang Mai a little further. We went to some second hand shops just outside the city to get some trekking supplies including hiking boots for Bev and an extra pack. We succeeded to the tune of 4 bucks for everything. Oh, and I bought some jeans for $2.50.
We then wended our way back into town and ended up close to the museum of culture and decided to pop in after our lunch. There were some interesting exhibits about how Thai homes are structured, family roles in the home, history of Chiang Mai, etc.
After the museum, we got back to the guesthouse, had dinner, and then planned what we needed to pack for the trip. We leave tomorrow morning for a three-day, two-night trek into the forests of northern Thailand. We'll hike up to visit and stay with some hill tribes, swim in waterfalls, ride elephants, go white water rafting, and coast down the river on bamboo floats. Time to pack up and prepare to check out of the hostel and begin the trek tomorrow moring.
