Hiya, sorry it has been a while, but there was a wedding, flights and some jolly good English fun that happened.
However I am back on the road and in Cambodia!! Went to Koh Tao in Thailand for one week which was just blissfully quiet and I recuperated from my brief return to England. Thailand is just easy and cheap and sunny and relaxing. So to make things more interesting I headed to Siam Reap to see the famous temples of Ankor Watt.
With a lovely American girl by my side we tuktuked round some amazing temples in 3 degree heat. Trying to dodge all the Japanses tourists was a slight problem, but the temples are just huge and magnificent, so old and just so big. They really thought big these ancient Cambodians.
Cambodia itself seems both desperatly poor, accomodation is around $3-5 a night, and terribly dodgy. Bribery is common, you have to haggle and check everything and if you do get something nicked, the police will hve to be bribed to give you a theft report.
But the people are on the whole lovely, kind and accomodating, happy to barter and talk to you about their country and the future. Now my American friend has gone my main form of transport is on the back of a motor cycle and he takes me anywhere I want for the whole day for $7-9.
Off to capital tomorrow, Phnom Peng, so another 5 hour bus drive, getting quite used to being bussed around the country.
Had a thai massage in Bangkok. Not sure how I offended the girl but she crazked every joint, punched every muscle and made me groan in pain several times. At one point she was walking on my things holding my feet to steady her. She was so strong and yet only looked about half my size.
It is so amazing seeing all thes countries and teaching yourself the geography and history of it all. Makes you realise how ignorant you really are! Gosh it is so hot here, unbelievable!! I am sure it is the same in England!!
Love to all,
Beth
