Well hello everybody! This is the first time that I have been able to get onto this site! Just to catch up then, I watched Bertie leave (with a tear in my eye for you Bertie!) for Laos on Kho Pangnan and then started my journey to Phuket, with Alex from Canada. It turned into a marathon of 8 forms of transport and 2 monkey bites for me! Patong beach was alright, very touristy, but we hired a wreck of a jeep and went to visit waterfalls and Gibbon sanctuaries. Where I found leaches all over me. Then we went to Kho Phi Phi and it was just beautiful! We went fishing with the locals and caught our supper, visited the "Beach" beach, which I swear is different, and hired sea kayaks. Must apologise to Alex at this point as I probably terrified her with all the tight spots I steered us into! Suddenly we decided to go to Malaysia to the Perhentian Islands and we managed in two hours to book it all, pack and get the ferry! We had to walk across the southern border which the Lonely planet strongly advises against! But it was worth it as this isand is just paradise! Long sprawling beach with clear azure waters. We have been on a sorkeling trip and seen turtles as big as me, then we went to see the baby turtle sanctuary, I was speechless as he let me hold one, which as you know is unusual for me! I got bitten by a fish and a cat on this island so I can safely sum up my trip as a 5 week excuse for anything living to bite Kate! Anyway I will soon be home and will bore all of you senseless with all my tales! Kate x
