Thursday 1st November
Today we got the bus to Mui Ne, from the stories we have heard about the transport in Vietnam we weren't expecting much. However a really posh sleeper bus turned up, it was ace. Especially as its only a 5 hour journey. We each has our own bed that fully reclines, we got some free water and only had one short stop for 20 minutes, also the roads were pretty smooth. We arrived about 1pm and managed to get a hotel for $10 a night and its pretty nice, even have a balcony. First thing we did was check out the beach and grab some lunch. The beach is huge and Kite surfing is really popular as its pretty windy and there are lots of waves. We just chilled out in the afternoon before taking advantage of the seafood bbq's they have on offer.
Friday 2nd November
The morning just consisted of some relaxing on the beach, I was in the sea jumping waves for about an hour by myself, having great fun though. I love waves. We had booked a trip in the afternoon, it was a jeep tour of Mui Ne that took you to see the fairy stream, floating village (just lots of boats) the red sand dunes and white sand dunes. They were all really good and we got about an hour at each one, check out the pictures to see what they are like. I wasn't really expecting sand dunes in Vietnam, it was cool though. We also missed a great picture when we were walking down the fairy stream Suze stepped into some sinking sand and fell in up to her waist nearly. It was so funny. The sand dunes were a bit of a blag as they were trying to get us to hire quad bikes up to the top for $20 for 15 minutes, we just decided to walk the 2km and have a bit of a workout.
In the evening we found the best local restaurant, it is so cheap. We all had a seafood soup for starter, seafood main with rice, spring rolls and 2 beers and it cost £3 each. Bargain. We went to a few other bars and had a couple more drinks and played some card games, everywhere is dead in Mui Ne, we have no idea why. Most places we were the only ones in a bar, except for the occasional Russian. Matt and Brett thought it would be a good idea to check out the casino, Shocker. We were the only ones in there, so all the staff were hovering around us. Matt decided to put $10 on roulette and the first spin came in so we ended up taking out $50 which pays for our accommodation and trip while we were here. We got some free beers and Brett and Suzanne had a go on the roulette, they kept winning small amounts so just kept putting it back on. Afterwards we headed to the disco place called 'Wax' there were about 3 people in there though other than us, so it was getting busier. Brett & Matt had a mini pool tournament while me and Suze watched the bonfire.
Saturday 3rd November
We literally did nothing today except chill on the beach and book our onward travel. We are heading to Nha Trang tomorrow, another 5 hour journey but on a lush sleeper bus again. Brett & Suzanne have an ozzie friend living there so I think they will be catching up with him. Planning on staying about 3 or 4 days then heading up to Hoi An.
So far we are loving Vietnam, the food is probably the best in Asia. Everything is amazing. Plus beaches are how we like to travel so I think all up the coast is going to be ace.
