Monday 17th December
Our transfer from Koh Lanta to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was leaving today. We departed our resort around 9am & spent 19 hours on minibuses & coaches before reaching our fifth country & fifth capital city.
We did meet a couple from the UK, Jon & Carrie who were on a 5 month honeymoon, doing a very similar trip to us. We spent our loitering time in different fast food joints along the way, chatting to them which was nice. They also had accommodation booked in KL, so we thought we'd share a taxi 7 see if there was room at the same place.
They had a spare room at 'Travel Hub Guesthouse' unfortunately & we took a double room for the night because it was 4am & we had no idea where we were. Bad move, they charged us half a day for 4 hours kip in a shoebox sized room with no bathroom so we left first thing in the morning & found a hotel in the heart of Chinatown.
After a much needed freshen up, we headed to KLCC/Petronas Towers/Twin Towers by the monorail. We've never known a cheaper mode of transport - 65p for 2 singles! When we arrived at KLCC we had a gander at all the glitzy designer shops, spending most of the time trying not to collide with the thousands of shoppers! It was crazy busy - hate to see it on a weekend!! It's as awesome as we remembered though, love this place.
£2.50 was more than enough to cover 2 large double colonel stacker burger meals at KFC & filled the biggest of gaps. A bit more shopping, then back to the hotel in the afternoon before hitting Chinatown for dinner. Chinese food wasn't as readily available as we had hoped so ended up in Nando's! So tasty & so cheap, can't complain!!!
Tuesday 18th December
We grabbed a 'Sub of the day' for breakfast & headed for the monorail. 20p each got us to the Botanical Gardens which we started to wander around before feeling dehydrated & the rain seemed to be closing in so we U-turned & headed to KLCC on the monorail once again.
Carly suggested we head for the cinema to watch 'The Hobbit' which we did. I thought it sucked, Carly loved it! The better part of the day for me was sharing a pizza, then sharing 9 assorted mini doughnuts before heading for another Nando's for a half chicken in hot sauce & corn on the cob.
