Well, here we are, last day and heading home. Mixed emotions... Sad to end our adventure & return to reality but happy to see all our family & friends again.
Anyway before all that, breakfast! And what a breakfast it was. Normally 50euros, the hotel had thrown it in for free as a gift to us. So we obligingly ate it (well it would be rude not to...)
Thick dark coffee, smoked salmon, pancakes, fresh fruit, cake (again!), lots of breads, leg of Parma ham on a stand (!!), cheeseboard (!!!!)... Perfect end to our foodie trip - summed it up really!
Anyway, aside from a small car incident on the way out of Lyon (clipped the wing mirror & smashed the glass... oops lucky we're not superstitious) fairly uneventful journey back to paris. Booked hire car back in, got a hefty damage bill (fortunately we thought to take out separate excess waiver insurance - thanks to Jen Wiffy for sorting that one out for us) and checked in for the Eurostar home.
Well deserved cold beer in hand, we headed for the train knowing we had a lift home waiting at the other end courtesy of Andi, followed by houmous & pitta back at White Villa courtesy of Kate!
To all those who kindly contributed to our honeymoon we haven't as yet thanked individually - THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Without all your generosity, we would be so very much poorer (& thinner) than we are now!
In all seriousness, we couldn't have had this amazing start to our married life without all the wonderful gifts we received so thanks to everyone. We look forward to seeing you all again now we're back
