WERE BACK!
We know how much you've all missed this blog so we thought we treat you to one about our 5 months living, working and saving in Perth, Australia!
We arrived on the 15th June into a terrible hostel, called Planet Inn the worst we had stayed in since we left England but also the most expensive which motivated us more to get ourselves sorted even quicker than we already wanted to! We managed to sort out new phones, bank accounts, medical care, cars, jobs and a sick apartment in 10 days. We were quite proud of ourselves about this as it was a very stressful week and a bit!
Danny arrived the day after we moved in which we were very happy about, then Sam moved in a few days later, we met Sam in Cambodia and also in a few places in Thailand!
The hard work then began, Tim had a days work with some dodgy geezer doing bricklaying but got out of that ASAP, he then got a job with his cousin at an engineering firm who build jettys, and boat ramps etc. Lloyd got a job similar to what he was doing at home, doing carpentry, joinery and shop fitting. After a couple of weeks chilling out, Danny got a labouring job on a building site, the highest apartment block in West Australia! Sam started off doing roofing but ended up working for the same company as Danny but on a different site.
We also all brought ourselves some absolute beasts of cars. Perth is a big spread out place so we needed them for work, socialising and picking up girls from tinder etc! Lloyd brought a Ford Festiva for $775, Tim a Daewoo Lanos for $900 and Danny brought a Hyundai Coupe also for $900! Absolute bargains! All of our cars served us well, no problems at all just a bit of oil here and there! We all ended up selling our cars for a profit, Danny and Tim pocketing $100 and Lloyd $125 which is a right result!
There isn't much to do in Perth to be fair, but that is the reason we came here really so we could save some good money so we can carry on our adventure traveling! You'll all be glad to know we didn't really go out drinking that much either as that cost a fortune! We only really went out when we had visitors, or it was someone's birthday, or there was big football games on. Ok that's starting to sound like a lot now but it was nowhere near as much as Asia or when we were back in England! Promise!
On our weekends off when the weather was decent we often went to kings park or the beach! The weather is very up and down here, one day can be 20° and pissing it down then the next day it can be 30° plus. It is just getting to summer now where apparently it is over 35° for three months straight and often over 40° so were all pretty glad we won't be working I that! Kings park is a massive inner city park, the biggest in the world, even bigger than central park and has amazing views of the CBD sky scrapers day and night! We often went down there for a kick about or just go for a bit of a walk through some of the trails there! We went to the beach at every opportunity we could, Scarborough beach being our favourite as it was just a 10 minute drive! There are other beaches we visited as well like, Cottesloe, City Beach, Mullaloo and Hilary. The beaches are amazing, clear seas and soft golden sands. Perth however is the shark capitol of the world and there are sightings pretty much every week of Great Whites. When this happens the 'shark alarm' goes off and everyone has to evacuate the sea, we experienced this once, we weren't in the sea but it was good to see, but no we didn't see the shark!
We have had a few visitors come to stay at ours over the time we have been here, some from home and some we have met traveling! The first two were Charlotte and Kelly, you'll probably recognise those names as we travelled with them a lot through Asia! It was there last week of traveling before they went back to England for good! Unlucky for them! When they were here we took a trip to Fremantle which is a nice place just under an hurts drive from the city. We went for a tour of Fremantle prison which was actually quite interesting, even though the tour guide was a complete fruit loop! The girls cooked for us every night which was there way of saying thanks for letting us stay which we were happy with as we were getting very bored of cooking every night.
Next we had Nathan stay for a couple of weeks, Lloyd and Tim met him and Shaun in New Zealand, Shaun is back in England now but was good to see Nathan, when he came to stay we had our biggest night out of our whole time in Perth. We had pre drinks at ours but invited all of our mates over, including Dale who we have become good mates with, he met Sam in Asia so we were introduced through him. We also had Nathans two mates, Pete and Dec over and three other girls we have met in Perth. We also had our mate Harry and his girlfriend Sarah over, we have all know harry for years, Lloyd from athletics and college, Tim through college and Danny through football. Everyone got on and we had a quality night!
Lastly we had Eva come to stay, she is a friend from home who has just moved to Adelaide which is a few hours flight away! She was here for five days but we managed to fit a night out in with her! She also cooked for us every night and she is a top cook! Two roasts in 5 days and none of us had had a roast since leaving England so we were buzzing about that!
We have had a great time in Perth and met some great people, male and female, quite a lot more females to be fair but you know what were like, Gotta keep ourselves entertained somehow! Most of our evenings consisted of watching Friends, Big Bang Theory, David Attenborough, The Block, The Bachelor, Beauty and the Geek and Big Brother but we wouldn't change it for the world, we have had such a laugh on the sofa in the evenings mostly taking the piss out of each other and telling Danny stories from traveling!
We have all finished work now and are just as excited as we were on our last day at work at home! We can't wait to get traveling again and show Danny what it is like. We move out today, Wednesday 12th November and head to Fremantle for a couple of nights before flying to Bali on Friday which we are absolutely buzzing about as we will be reunited with a lot of people, Lloyd is especially excited as he gets to see his two brothers Elliot and Conor. After that is back to Perth for a festival for a few days the off over to the east coast of Australia for 6 weeks….
