Geneva

Our flight got in around 10, and we were quickly out of the hotel and on the train into Geneva. It only took about 5 minutes, and after a short walk we were at our hostel.Feeling pretty tired, we pretty much just checked in and went straight to bed. Boring!!!

We were up fairly early, and checked out of the hostel, but we were able to leave our stuff in lockers there. We went for a tram ride into the city centre and went in search of an ATM. Apparently for the most famous banking country in the world, putting in some ATM's is a difficult task. We walked for about 30 minutes and still not being able to locate one, we ended our search, and just went looking at the shops instead. We did eventually manage to find one, and then about 30 others in the space of about 20m!!! We bought a late breakfast/early lunch, of bread, Gruyere cheese and some ham, and we went and sat on the edge of Lake Geneva for our little feast. They really have made the lake quite beautiful, complete with a stupid, pointless, big water shooting straight up in the air. We walked right along the edge of that for a while, before heading back into the town centre, to check out lots of expensive watches!!!! We looked at all the points of interest on our map, before heading up to the gorgeous little old town. This included the obligatory cathedral, and stroll up the small streets.

We finished our express Geneva tour with a look in a nice park. The park is home a well known (?) 'Reformation Wall', from the reformation of the church back a few centuries ago!! What I loved about this park was the giant sized chessboards and pieces, and also a draughts game for those who like things a little more simple (Like me!). There was a very tense game of chess in the process with quite a large crowd looking on, cheering the two older gents taking part.

About 2pm we headed back to the hostel to collect our bags and headed back up to the train station for the 40 minute trip to Lausanne, still on the edge of Lake Geneva!
