After the hustle and bustle of city life in Brisbane our next stop off was at the sleepy town of Noosa. The east coast is so busy right now, there doesn't seem to be any beds going spare at any of the hostels. I'm really glad we booked ours in advance now. We were staying out of the main town of Noosa Heads at Noosaville. Our hostel was right by the river and had lots of BBQ areas so we spent the evening doing as the locals do by cooking and dining with the sunset. Steaks are dead cheap across here, I think that just results in you buying more in weight rather than quality! Needless to say we were very full for the rest of the evening.
I had booked a surfing lesson for the following morning whilst Sheona decided to go and have a walk around the National Park that sits on the town's doorstep. I have to say that the surfing was rather successful, although very tiring. I stood up on my first go and was rather pleased, but then I just had to look at the size of my board compared to all the other surfers! On a 9ft 6 inch board I think anyone can stand on it! They reminded me of the floats that they used to have at Ainslie Park in Edinburgh (some people will know what I'm talking about!). I can see why people get really hooked on the sport as I really enjoyed it.
Sheona had a good walk and saw some really nice beaches, as you can see from the photos.
We met up in the afternoon and we (I) found a pub that was showing a re-run of the Wales vs. France game and the Grand Prix at the same time :-)
