Okay, just had our most random experience in Thailand. Arrived at Surat Thani station at 8pm and had 4 hours to kill until our train leaves for Butterworth. Decided to go for a walk and get some food, but we got intercepted by a motorbike taxi man. After asking him for Macdonalds he asked us if we enjoyed "beer and sing song." We said yes and he said he would take us for 50 baht each there and back, we presumed to Macdonalds!

How wrong we were...

Ended up in a Thai restaurant/bar/"sing song" place in the middle of nowhere, where absolutely nobody spoke a word of English!! Managed to order Fanta, which they kept topping up without asking, and chicken fried rice! After a couple of mouthfuls of our food, we decided we should get out of there, and so we paid and asked for a taxi. Ended up being one of the waitresses who took us both back to the station on her bike! Very kind!

All in all, a very interesting hour.
