Right, this blog is way overdue, but I thought I´d start with South America and we can catch up with the rest later. Having left Auckland at about 5:30 pm on Friday, we arrived in Santiago at 12:30, before we had left! Bit weird to get your head round and we were understandably tired. I also felt awful as my ears had been very painful on the flight thanks to my cold, resulting in only partial hearing. This made listening to Spanish (which neither of us speak anyway) pretty hard. Luckily Ben managed to get us on the bus and we found our hostel. It was tempting to sleep but we went for a walk and bought some food to cook and managed to stay awake until bedtime.

On Saturday we went to see a few of Santiago´s sights. As we only had one day (it was a shame to be leaving Chile so quickly, but we had lots of other things we really wanted to see) we jumped on a bus that took you round a lot of the different areas of the city. It was nice to have a bit of sunshine once again, and when we got off the bus we climbed the Santa Lucia hill to see the city from higher up.

Next morning it was off to Mendoza....think we´ll have to return to Chile another time!
