Soo....nearly up to date with where we've been. From Siem Reap got a but for bout 5 hours to Phnom Penh, which was fine except Ben's seat was broken so he couldn't lean back. Fun. Phnom Penh was ok, but there's not much there really. We opted to go on our guest house's one day tour in a minibus with three others, so we saw a lot in one day. The people we went with were really nice and we had a really good day. Particularly notable were the killing fields from the late 70's, and the Tuol Sleng genocide museum, which was a school that was turned into a prison during the Khmer regime. Pretty harrowing stuff, so it was kind of good to follow it with the national museum and royal palace. The silver pagoda was very disappointing, bascially looks like a bit of tin and has duct tape holding it down. After that was good to get back to the guest house and have a beer...at which point I realised I hadn't eaten anything all day...oops.
So that was Phnom Penh, cool to see but I think we're looking forward to a break from cities.....though we've just arrived in Ho chi Minh (Saigon) which is massive. Hmm.
