We are now in a small village called Hoi An. It is sort of a sea side resort. It is situated in the middle of Vietnam. This part of Vietnam is where all the floods have been happening, so in some parts of town the villagers have been travelling around town by boat! We have been here for around a day and a half, but have only managed to do some clothes shopping. The shops are all tailors here, so you go and sit in the shop and look through designer magazines and pic an item of clothing that you like and they will make it for you in 24 hours. We have already spent about 160 ponds between us in one day. I have bought a dark brown suit for 50 pounds and a pair of grey trousers for 15 pounds. Belen has bought two dresses for 25 pounds each and a winter jacket for 25 pounds also. There are over 1000 different fabrics to choose from. Oh Belen has also bought two pairs of trousers.
We found out yesterday that our tour guides Vietnamese girlfriend had broken up with him, so me and another guy called steve on our tour decided to take him out for a day of drinking. The plan was to get him drunk so that he could get over the break up. Well lets just say it back fired on us, as we ended up getting drunk while he was still sober!!!! We ended up going home at about 1am and he decided to stay out with some girls from our tour. After we left it got worse as his girlfriend turned up at the bar that we were in with her new boyfriend!!!! To cut a long story short, we were supposed to meet our tour guide at 9am this morning to go to the local child orphanage, so we got up and went down to reception and waited for our guide to turn up. Half an hour passed and still there was no sign of our guide, so we checked reception to see if his key was still there. It was not there so that meant he must have been in his room. We knocked and knocked and there was no answer. We have not seen him today so he is probably still in his bed! We will have to check if he is okay later.
Uncle John - No the prison was in Hanoi city center. I dont think it is as big as the prison you have mentioned, but was still definently worth seeing.
Dad - We have got some pictures of Vietnamese people in our next photos to be uploaded. They are sort of the same as chinese, but there skin is a bit darker.
