DAY 20 - WARSZAWA The monumental Museum of the Prison Pawiak includes: a pier being an element of the entrance gate, a monument of Pawiak Tree - a brown copy of the famous elm, historical witness - were victims' families have placed epitaph-boards since 1945, concrete wall surrounding the Museum, symbolic carvings by professor Tadeusz Łodziany and professor Stanisław Słonina, and also the prisoners' yard with the monument designed by Zofia Pocisławska. On the reconstructed yard several places have been marked with marble boards, e.g. the way down to morgue from the direction of Dzielna street, the place where prisoners were forced to crawl on hot gravel and ash, and the place with the coal scales on which on 6 December 1943 three prisoners were hung as they tried to escape
