So currently i am in Livingston, Izabel, Guatemala, which is totally different from any other place i have been to so far. Its on the Caribbean sea which means tons of descendants from the Caribbean islands here, totally chill culture and extreme hot weather and with that tons of hungry mosquitos!
I have been back in Guatemala for a week now and have been having fun. I spent Tuesday & Weds in Antigua last week, travelled to San Pedro again on Thursday til Monday. I left there monday morning as i had nothing to do and the weather was so bad, rained all afternoon everyday and was so cold. Just like England so i left first thing monday morning. Went to Antigua to see Chloe a Dutch girl i travelled El Salvador with and then persuaded her to come travel to Belize with me. So Tuesday morning, we left to Guatemala city then took a bus to Rio Dulce. Rio Dulce seemed just a place to stay while you pass through to either north or south. But we chose a place on the river in the middle of nowhere. It was nice. But tons of mosquitos there. it was quite good. The hotel was so cool, dorms were in the roof above the bar and they had a 3 month old puppy that was so cute and playful. I ended up being bitten and chased.
We took the boat this morning to Livingston, it was a really nice ride taking around 2 hours. Its so hot here again and i am staying at a hostel ran by an English guy called Casa de la Iguana. Ive heard mixed things about this hostel and that the staff are awfully annoying. But its ok at the moment, cus i know 2 members of the staff from travelling through Antigua. So its all good. Funny where you bump into people again! at first i had no idea i had met them before until they told me the night and everything. I actually pulled out some funny photos of one of the guys dancing! Theres a good few people tonight staying, and a family style dinner which is English style Curry. me and Chloe have booked to go on a tour tomorrow, which means we visit some waterfalls again then to Playa Blanca, the best beach around here. So I cannot wait for more sun time! I bought a really nice rasta colour scarf today which i can tie up to be a bikini part, either top or bottom so will see if i can manage to tie it like it!
The first language here is Garifuna then spanish and also they speak english too sometimes. But so caribbean, feels like ive left Guate!
As always im thoroughly enjoying myself and wouldnt change this experience for the world Taking the boat from here to Punta Gorda in Belize on Friday morning, then straight to Caye Caulker via Belize City. Cant wait!
