Oh my, its been about a month since I've got to a computer and I've forgotten my journal so I can't think of what to write about!
Stereotypial Ghanaian situation just occurred though. Im sitting here typing and some guy opposite me starts talking to me, asking my name, what I'm doing in Ghana and then it's the whole routine of: 'Can I take your number? Can I give you my number?' And I always tell people that I don't have a phone which usually works but this guy then says Do you have a pen? No. He gets one anyway and gives me his number and its like, I don't want to waste the time on the computer that I've paid for talking to you and getting your number which I am never going to call! Haha! Cressida, who has a phone, has been getting calls in the middle of the night from a guy who she didn't even give her number to, who wants her to be his girlfriend and says things like: I don't know how to deal with these feelings of love. Vomit a little bit? You've got to laugh :P
So, about a month ago now, we went to Mole National Park which was incredible! Got up close with elephants and baboons and monkeys and antelope and warthogs, really exciting! I'll have to give you all more details when I get back :)
This past month has gone in a bit of a blur. We've got really close to our host mother, who has been helping us make Ghanaian clothes :) At first, I sometimes found it difficult with her, as there are no home comforts and no familiar foods (all culture differences!) but now its my last day at her's and I'm sad to leave! Over the easter, the older children have been home from boarding school and we've grown close to them as well, but they went home at the beginning of this week. One girl, called Jeanette, has always been really friendly and happy. Always good at lifting my spirits! We've also been talking quite a bit with two guys; Hudu and Dominic. We took them and another guy, Tony, to a pool in Bekwai; such a fun day! Me and Cressida have been desperate for a swim for ages; it was so refreshing. Not many people here know how to swim which is unusual for us; they went in with life jackets!! We tried teaching them, but teaching swimming is kinda difficult! Over time they became more confident and I think they really enjoyed themselves :) It's great to have a few friends in this country although I am very sad to be leaving them all. Leaving the babies was the most difficult thing. I've watched a few of them learn to walk, helped them learn different words, fed them, changed them, dressed them, played with them, picked them up when they fell over, stopped them fighting with each other, cuddled them... They're all so different and do different things to make me laugh!
I'm looking forward to my two weeks of travelling and relaxing and also coming home, to a much-loved family and friends. I definitely want to come back to this country again though!
