Right here goes....
My flight from manchester to London went without a hitch and i even got a full english brekkie on the plane.Score! Then it all started going a bit pete tong. The gut checking me onto my flight in Gatwick, ahd me stressing for like 10 minutes as he couldnt find the booking. Just as i was about to start crying and stamping my feet, he found it and thought it was hilarious. Not. So all checked in, and off to security. Big queue, was a surprise, but just as i was getting to the front everyone in front of me started panicing, and this american guy said there was a Fire arm, hence much panic and chaos, turns out it was a fire ALARM, still badm but no where near as if there jad been an actual gun. waited for about an hour then was able to go through. All good, had a nice double vodka and lemonade to regain my strength. We were an hour late boarding the plane to Atlanta as the crew hadnt arrived and the plane was still dirty. No probs i thought as can still make my connecting flight to Cancun. As we were coming into Atlanta we were told there was big delays due to storms earlier. start stressing. Anyway get in to the gate just as my connecting plane is leaving. booooo. took 2 hours to get through the security at atlanta - lots of scary officials and they walked off with my passport for 10 mins eeeeep. but all fine. Went off to the Delta desk (by the way i will never fly with Delta again!) waited in a queue (line) that didnt move for 3 hours, met a nice family though and they bought me a starbucks = friends for life.! finally got to the desk and had the grumpiest woman ever. Finally managed to get re-booked on the next flight to Cancun (14 hours later!) but hey hey, got food vouchers and a hotel voucher. All good, im starting to smile again at this point. Stuffed my face then went off to find the bus to take me to said hotel. waited half hour, turns out, the hotel has no room. grrr. trek back the 20 min walk to airport and am starting to get pissy. Turns out the grumpy lady booked me in knowing theres no room to get rid of me. so this nice other lady apologised profusely sat me in a comfy chair and sorted it out. new hotel booked - back to bus stop. Finally made it my hotal about 1am local time (7am your end - by this time have been up and travelling for 27 hours. But i had a suite, super huge bed, bath, sofa, tv, sky etc etc. crashed out and slept for about 4 hours then back to the airport (btw i HATE atlanta airport), caught my flight ok this morning and arrived in Cancun about 11am. found my hostel then straight to the beach , so hot and loads of palm trees. Then i went to meet a friend (claire) i made on the flight for tea, which ive just back from. Getting up early tomorrow to go to Isle de mujeres which is a teeny island a few km off the coast from cancun, which is a bit more chilled and quiet so i can lay on the beach in peace, read my book and drink beer. So im here safe, and so far everyone i have met has been really nice and super friendly.
saturday 21st
cant seem to get into write a new blog so gonna write it in here. Claire and i travelled to the Isle de Mujhere (which means the island of woman!!) this moring and got here about 11am. i managed to check into the best hostel Poc Na, its normally really funny booked so very happy. We then headed straight to the beach - its so amazing. Palm trees, cabanas, like 4 poster beds with muslin hanging down = awseome. so we sunbathed for a while then went swimming in the sea. it was so warm, like a bath, never felt anything like it. ( kat - it was like and amazing bath). so we generally swan, sunbathed and drank pina coladas.
its so much nicer here than cancun, no annoying american tourists. Claire just went back to Cancun, to get her connecting flight, and i'm back on my own - sure not for long as so so many nice people at the hostel. think i,ll get a beer and go sit myself down. I,m gonna stay another day here - i,m not being lazy you understand ,just need to get over jet lag lol. Then planning on going to Chitzen Itza, but not sure as its a bit out of the way and going to so many other mayan temples. Adios, i need a beer xx
