What can we say about Sydney....
When we arrived, it did nothing but rain!!! Our hostel is ok, offers loads of free nights out and breakfast but we did have a friend in the room which made it hard to sleep....he was fast, black and about 4 inches long and landed on Becs in the middle of the night! (it was a cockroach before you read that wrong!)
Mike took us out on Saturday night to a nice bar which was good fun to let our hair down and was great to catch up. Then on Sunday we met with him and his girlfriend (also called Becky) for lunch in Darling Harbour, followed by a trip to Sky City casino in the evening which was not the best plan when we have no money!!
Monday we went to the Blue Mountains and stopped at the Featherdale Wildlife Park on the way where Steve got attacked by a huge hungry Emu which then it chased Becs after. This was cool cos there was animals roaming loose for us to feed and for them to attack us! We had another photo with koalas and then moved on to a rainforest trek followed by the blue mountains which gave us spectaular views. The three sisters were a lot smaller than we thought but the Sky rides made up for it with the worlds steepest railway, highest cablecar and tallest skyride. Mental! The tour finished with a boat trip to Circular Quay (opera house and bridge) so we had gorgoeus views of the city. We just chilled out in the evening ready for the next hectic day!!
Tuesday was probably our best day so far. We had a really early start and climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge first thing which was so high you could see everything Sydney has to offer. We had several photos taken on top of the bridge and enjoyed the fantastic views - it was really windy at the top though and some photos made us look lke the marshmallow man from ghostbusters cos our suits kept blowing out with air! It was definitely worth it though.
We then met Mike and Becky for a picnic in the Botanical Gardens overlooking the opera house and the bridge, which was so nice....they prepared olives, ham, avocado, bread, sundried tomatoes and champagne!!! we were spoilt rotten!! - They drove us to Bondi Beach afterwards but it was too rough to go in the sea so we just chilled out and took some photos before heading back to Mike's place for a BBQ, followed by a much needed relaxation in his hot tub!! oh how we lived the life yesterday!!!!
Today we are heading off to Melbourne to meet with Mark and Vicki so we'll keep posting there!
