Plane jouney from Natal to Sao Paulo was a pretty traumatic event as some guy decided to have a heart attack on the seat directly in front of us, how inconsiderate, did he not know it s my birthday! Kat woke me up and i saw people running up and down with bags, i actually thought we were crashing, thank god he was just having a heart attack!CPR and everything but luckily he survived and so did we.
Decided not to leave the airpot in Sao Paulo as didnt fancy getting mugged, raped or murdered! Plus the girls had a bd case of the runs. Caught the connection to Buenos Aires and arrived late evening. Saw clouds out of the window from the airplane but just thought it was overcast, no one told us it was bloody baltic compared to Brasil, the flip flops did not cut it!
Checked into Milhouse hostel and headed to riverside for a birthday meal at a steak house, all you can eat, when in Rome!
28th Sep. Headed to shops in Palmero to find some warm clothes after freezing our bits off the night before. Checked out the balcony on the pink house of Evita, 'dont cry for me Argentina'. Dodged the doggy poo poo in the botanical gardens, well....except me!
Met two fellow northerners from Burnley, and the Candian trio *well one was scouse*. Embraced the evening with happy hour gin and tonics....messy!
29th Sept. Woke up feeling like death, still pissed at breakfast and decided to knock juice and cereal all over before remebering we had booked a walking tour around La Boca, holy s***! Well worth it filled with beautiful, colourful buildings and tango lined streets. The highlight was lunch though...again, needed to line the old stomachs with more red meat.
Next stop La Boca footy stadium, smallest pitch i have ever seen and we were all over the tour by then! The evening was spent chilling in the hostel ith a few beers, or in my case water!
Wed 30th Sept. Planned our own tour around the city.
- Cafe Tortoni for a coffee. First built cafe in Buenos Aires. Beautiful building that holds its own tango shows...need to work on their coffee though.
- Antique book store, El Tunnel. Tried to culture ourselves with some sonnets and black beauty!
- Florida Street. Shops, shops and more shops.
- Alvear Avenue, for the rich and famous, we looked homeless.
- Pilar Church, stunning church of the Recoleta friars, little religious!
- Recoleta Cemetery to see Evitas grave. Very strange as coffins were held in houses and it was a like a little city of death, Char was not overly keen, little spooked and made a swift exit.
- Generalis Floris, or giant flower made of stainless steel donated by an artist to B.A.
- Fine art gallery or so some people might think! A painting of a half chicken, half woman with a fork sticking in it is not my idea of fine art!!!! NEXT
The evening went something like this......
- Cocktail at our hostel with the Canadians
- Beer and a pizza in Ugis with drinking games
- Milhouse Avenue party with vodka jelly, tequila shots and cheap jeigar meister, or whatever!
- Sick
- Danced
- Another passed out person
- Beer
- California guy
- Canadian guy
- Irish guy
- Empanads and pint
- Bed
- Kat had another pint!
30th Sept. Ill again. Bus booked to the Iguazu falls at 3pm. Killed time in the hostel and then headed to the world photo press exhibition, photos of floating dead bodies did not help the hangover but was very moving.
17 hour bus jouney on an awesome bus with movies, fully reclined seats and waiter service. Done
