Day Five
Leaving Tokyo - Heading for Seoul
Bags packed & ready to go we grabbed our last breakfast (a pot noodle) in Tokyo. Grabbing the train we headed to Nartia airport. A nice airport, in fact very expensive & not cheap at all! We nosed around the airport shops & we grabbed a bite to eat. We grabbed some goodies from a shop & off we went to board the plane.
Boarding to Seoul was exciting, a new airline & very different to our crappy british flights. It was clear from the off that the Koreans were out to look after us! Once in the air we were fed & watered - none of this crap of buying drinks on the plane back home, we had the full shabang! There was even computer games that you could play on mini screens in the backs of the chairs, we were easily amused & it was cool.
Arriving at Korea there was no problems with customers & everything at the airport was sorted out pretty fast. Bus ticket bought we were heading for Hyehwa area of Seoul! Stuck on the bus for the 1 1/2 hours the journey was tiring & to make things worse their was the most annoying yanks on the planet proper rambling behind us so we couldn't even here the bus stop shout outs through the speakers. I think they we gob smacked when they asked us to share a taxi & we told them to do one as we prefer to walk (lazy b*****s!).
Walking up a very very busy bustling street that smelt vile we arrived down a back alley at the Wind Road & Flower hostel. The place didn't seem too bad from the look of the reception till we were took to the dormitory room. Absolute disgraceful, there was a kitchen sink next too our bunk beds & the sheets were disgusting, the place looked filthy. We had also been told that our dormitory provided access for people who had the private rooms, so they had to walk past our beds to get to their rooms. Even though it was horrible we decided that we'll give it a go because at least there was lockers to secure your valuables away. Lying in bed & seeing people coming & going through our room we realised that people weren't particularly bothered in locking our room after themselves so we decided to ask for a private room & pay the extra. Was we glad 2 pay the extra - the room was nicer with nicer beds & at least we could lock our own room & we didn't have to share it with passer bys.
The toilet/shower room or shared bathroom (as in shared we mean the shower is shared with a washing machine - electrics & water don't mix, we know!) was horrible & grubby but if you got to go then you just got to go. It's going to be fun & games getting a shower. I am even contemplating waiting till we get to Beijing.
After a short rest from the shock of the hostel & a long day of travelling we decided to head out in to the area & explore the night life. Crazy, smelly, dirty streets & busy with people - we wished we were back in Japan. The place is crammed full of shops, places to eat, street venders & people. Not a quiet relaxing place at all. Whilst walking around Andy only happened to spot Everton v Tottenham on the telly in a restaurant so he grabbed a beer & we sat down & watched the match.
After the match it was quite late & it was getting unbelievably cold so we headed back to the hostel for sleep. Pj's on with some added thermals we both climbed in to a single bed even though there was 2 beds the extra warmth, comfort & cuddles was nice.
Good night Seoul can't wait to check you out properly in the daylight..........
