Well where do I begin with Phi Phi! I thought I'd never find a place that was as amazing as Ibiza but my word, the little island of Ko Phi Phi is definitely up there!!! With it's quirky little alley ways, fast street food parlours and house music blaring bars, it reminded me of Shangri La at Glastonbury but with added beach party's... Definitely an amazing place to be!!
Our first day there we took in the hustle & bustle along with soaking up some rays on a beautiful white sanded beach and met some party animals who were also on their travels.. Jamie, Tom, Tom, Shauna and Jay. We decided to meet up with them to sample the nightlife of the island and what a night it turned out to be!! The place is insane! Buckets were flowing, everyone was dancing and spirits were happy & high!
The next day was Christmas Eve. I rented out a long boat with Jay, Max & David, and hit the ocean to do some island hopping. Our little Thai driver was really nice & looked after us well for the 4 hours we was onboard. First stop was monkey island which was rammed with wild monkeys hanging around on the beach and dangling off cliff sides. They were keen to meet you to kindly take a banana from your hand which was a bit surreal... Beats visiting the zoo!
The next stop was further out into the ocean but not too far from an island where we jumped off the boat to do some snorkelling. Under the water was bright and colourful with some beautiful fishes & corals. We spent a good half an hour diving down deep to take good pictures of sea urchins and the under water landscapes... It was beautiful. The seas are marine in Thailand which has made me want to try out a bit of diving at some point, especially after the snorkelling.
We then motored off into a bright blue lagoon, anchored up and jumped in. This place was paradise. Towering islands with limestone cliffs, green trees & clear blue ocean surrounded us in an enclosure that was only accessible by boat, and here we was with the place virtually to our selves :) We swam, took pictures, bombed into the water off the boat, sunbathed & took in the beautiful scenery surrounding us. What more could you ask for!? ....
... A trip to even more luxurious paradise at Maya Bay where they filmed The Beach?! Yes please! We continued our mission & jumped off the boat to have a good trek around the small, secluded island whilst soaking up a few rays and even more jaw dropping scenery... Plus reconstructing some scenes from the film, as you do ;) After a good nosey around the small island we headed back to Phi Phi for a night of Christmas Eve partying.. All in all, well worth the 400 baht for a Thai cultured Long boat trip :0)
That evening went off with a bang!!! We headed down to a huge beach party to get into the Christmas spirit & watch Thai fire shows & fireworks along the full length of the beach, drink cocktails, and to pretty much rave like lunatics. The atmosphere was unbelievable!! I want to stay on this island forever!!!
Christmas Day was my first Christmas ever in the sunshine and as strange as it felt, it was an awesome experience. We sunbathed by the sea drinking strawberry slush cocktails, building sandmen, chatting with new friends as well as face timing family followed by smoking strawberry shisha & enjoying Thai noodles in a beach bar. Not your average Christmas! We later went for a slap up Christmas meal which consisted of pizza and steak followed by another night of partying! Merry Christmas you filthy animal :0)
Boxing Day was our last day on Phi Phi, and feeling a bit delicate from the previous days we didn't do much apart from pack up our things, eat & head down to the pier ready to catch the ferry.
Next stop is Krabi...
