Becky Bravo's Adventures
Well, we came up with a secure plan today so we did not just wander around Paris aimlessly. We ventured outside the city to Versailles to experience a castle that Nadine assured does still exist - Versailles.
We get on the Metro then transfer to an above ground train and got to Versailles fairly quickly. As we thought yesterday, a castle is not hard to find, so we migrate toward it.
It was beautiful, and so BIG! The line to get in was ENDLESS so we just took part in the free gardens, and viewings of the grounds, etc. But we spent hours and hours there, and it was great.
We even sat in the grass near the water and played some more Phase 10. Yes, we went to Versailles and played Phase 10. What? It's addicting, OK? But, our game was interrupted by some CRAZY rain. I mean, it just started POURING on us. And, that was perfect on the day that Kristin and I decided we did not need any jackets. But we found cover in some trees, and it did eventually stop, and we were able to explore the Domaine de Marie Antoinette. And that was pretty awesome as well.
Now, it was a long walk from where we started to where we finished our exploring, and we had to walk it all back. Again, an exhausting day, but super fun.
We ended our time in Versailles by having a truly foreign experience at this little pub. The waitress spoke no English, we were struggling with our French from high school and our French phrase book. And we could tell she was frustrated with us. But the food was amazing, and it was the cheapest place we could find, so it was worth it.
On our way home, we knew we would want some snacks later, so again, we went into some stores but there was just no microwave popcorn anywhere!! (And for those of you wondering, I will not be getting off the subject of popcorn anytime soon. I mean it, you just don't know how important microwave popcorn is until you DON'T have it).
We had originally planned to try and go out dancing or something tonight, but we were just too tired. Kristin read her book, and Nadine and I watched one of our free movies - Changeling. We packed up our stuff and went to bed. Kristin and I learned our lesson good on the way here to Paris that we better be at the train station on time!
