Becky Bravo's Adventures
We just pretty much wanted to explore the city today, so we bought an all-day Metro pass and metro-ed and walked our way around Paris. Very cool. We walked up a TON of stairs to get to Sacré Cœur, a beautiful church overlooking the city. Then we ventured off into a high traffic tourist area to get some snacks and drinks. We had a very stereotypical rude waiter, but I suppose everybody gets one of those in France. (or so i hear).
As we were walking to find the Moulin Rouge, we found this amazing cemetery that had these crazy elaborate crypts. It was really cool to see. Probaby would have been creepifying by night, but cool during the day. It is kind of hard to explain, but it totally reminded me of the cemeteries shown in Buffy with the Crypts with doors, and huge grave stones, etc.
We did make it to the Moulin Rouge, and were able to see some picutures, and history of the place, but no, we did not go in and see a show. Why? It was 150 Euros for dinner and a show - per person!! Not a good thing for travelers on a budget. But it was cool to see the famous place and to read about the historical significance.
Next, onto the Louvre! Again, we just chilled outside, did not go into the museum or anything due to the whole lack of money thing, but there were pools of water that we could put our feet in, and believe me, it was HOT and it felt great. So we chilled there for a few.
Then, it was shopping on the famous street - Champs Elysees - or in our case, window shopping on Champs Elysees. It was a very cool street with expensive shops and cool cafes. But alas, I did not find anything affordable or worth purchasing.
Now, I guess Paris is famous for this Eiffel Tower thing, so we walked and metro-ed our way over there. It was really cool to see it for real instead of in pictures. It was like 10 Euros to go up it, so we just chilled below it and marveled. Very worth it. We enjoyed the sight so much we planned for a picnic the next day right in that very spot.
So, on our way back to the hotel, we thought that since our room had a microwave, some sweet snackage like microwave popcorn woud hit the spot, but sadly, we could not find it in any store.
We got back to our room, and after walking for miles and miles, we fell right asleep.
