**Warning, accidental review rather than blog**
Well what can we say about Emu Park? We were there for so long I don't think we can fit it in.
I think there is a word limit on here so we need to try and make it brief.
For all the travellers who are reading this.....
Go!
We had a great time there. Although we have and are currently enjoying the more touristy areas of Australia, you can't beat the 'real' australia. We are talking about every 10th person you meet being a backpacker or tourist, rather than every 20th person you meet in the more touristy areas being Australian.
The ocean is beautiful. The beach is beautiful. The people are great. The place where we stayed and worked was called Emus Beach Resort and Backpackers. It was a great job for us to have. We got things free and we learnt what life was like on the other side and we met some amazing people (mostly Australian of course). I started to feel Australian and developed a late obsession for Bundy Rum. Oh god I could drink one now!! We refined our child caring skills, learnt how to pull a good 'schooner' TRIED to and now still do a poor job on Australian mannorism's - they just won't go but I don't care.
For the backpackers coming through on Greyhound you get picked up from Rockhampton. Maybe another 30 minutes drive in a minivan might seem tedious but it's well worth it. The hostel is close to new, very clean and a breath of fresh air. It's much better than staying a night in Rockhampton. Just expand your visit at Emus to a few days and relax or visit Great keppel Island which is close to paradise.
Everyone is really welcoming and if your walking down the road or along the beach, more often than not you'll get a G'Day from someone.
Basically, we had an amazing time here and we were really sad to leave. Ask Kate, I keep asking her if we can go back!!!!
I feel like I'm plugging the place and as it seems so obvious I'm just going pop the website address down here... www.emusbeachresort.com.au
