Hello from Airlie Beach,
We are VERY behind on our blog but we will catch up.
Airlie Beach was our first stop after our 2 months and 2 weeks at Emu Park. I MISS IT!!!
Depression and sadness aside, we found Airlie Beach tastefully touristy. It looked like a much smaller and more charming Cairns. The place is beautiful. I think my favourite thing about it was that you could walk from one end of the tourist part of Airlie to the other in about 4 minutes. What can I say...I'm lazy. Only down side we found was that there were a lot of noisy bars and we felt lame for not drinking.
We stayed at Beaches backpackers. It had a really good location and for one night it was okay but if your staying for more than one night.....don't. It was insanely noisy even the walls were protesting. Oh and they have little bug friends.
We went on a sailing boat the same day we arrived after a 6 hour overnight bus journey. Not a good idea. After we had a BBQ on board (which was really nice) Kate and I went straight to bed. Even the skipper asked us if we were drinking, I was nearly too tired to answer.
Thank goodness we didn't get sea sick.
We saw Whitehaven beach which was a beaut. Kate polished her jewelry in the sand, the difference was amazing.
We got a lickle bit worse for wear the last night. We ended up with the skipper and his right hand man on top of the roof of the boat when everyone else had gone to bed, we only were looking at the stars. The view was amazing. Although we were facing a $3000 a night luxury resort. I was satisfied where we were. Slumming hehe!
We had a day to waste on our last day as our train wasn't until 8pm so we hung out on the net and at the lagoon. Wow. England should think about getting some nicer whether and having some free swimming pools.
The place was really nice, quite expensive and definitely upmarket.
Not sure if I took it all in as I was soooo tired on all days of being there.
That's all for now as Kate and I need to catch up on our blog of other places - pics coming
Take care, peace out
